By default, the Bugatti Chiron’s top speed is electronically limited to 261 mph since it left the factory. The video after this post, however, will show that the hypercar actually has a lot more potential than you thought.

Regardless of the fact that its speedometer reads to 310 mph, the 1500-horsepower monstrous machine can’t pull out its performance to the fullest since Bugatti has restricted its speed to 261 mph through tire limitations. In the video you’re about to watch, the Chiron demonstrates just how fast it can reach that speed limit.

The clip originates from a speed party at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds. There owners are allowed to bring their automobiles and perform a several-mile run on a closed off runway. The particular Chiron participated in the party has a dark-red color, and it could hit a GPS-shown 261 mph over 2.7 miles, the moment it scuttled out of runway. If you pay attention, you will know that the driver didn’t launch his car; instead, he made a slow opening. It even appears as if the Chiron didn’t go full-throttle before it reaches 100 mph.

You can watch the video and notice that the car was still on acceleration even after it touches the finish line, which makes us think that it could possibly unleash a higher speed if more pavement was available. And we would probably have seen the electronic limiter does its job if the car was launched since the beginning of the run and kept full-throttle all the way to the finish line.

Since finding out how high the Chiron’s actual, un-restricted performance isn’t a priority for Bugatti’s boss, what’s shown in the following video may be the finest run we can see, at least for now.
